Welcome to Warwickshire

October 1 - 4, 2012
Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick; UK

My sister studied at University of Warwick, which is actually in Coventry (not Warwick). But during our visit to the UK midlands, we stayed in nearby Kenilworth and visited nearby towns of Leamington Spa and Warwick which are all in Warwickshire!

Victoria Lodge was our pretty home away from home. Undoubtedly this place was our best lodging experience in our whole UK-France Trip. (My sister did a great job booking us here). Our host Jane was really nice and made our whole stay pleasant and enjoyable. I highly recommend Victoria Lodge for anyone visiting the Warwickshire.

Most outside from the UK would most likely be not familiar of these destinations. So what did we get to see and enjoy? :) Well read on...

Of course we wouldn't miss Marion's Flat

The clock tower at Kenilworth, this would be the town center
We would walk to this destination almost everyday
to go the the abbey fields, catch a bus, eat at a restaurant.
a nice 1km walk from Victoria Lodge, passing through shops and pubs

A war memorial, commemorating lives lost from Kenilworth

Abbey fields, a public park where one can explore
the abbey ruins, a creepy graveyard, St. Nicholas church.
At the other side of the park, would be the old high street

Kenilworth castle. Largest castle ruins in the UK

 Shopping time at Leamington Spa

Statue of Queen Victoria at Leamington
This monument moved an inch when a bomb striked nearby in WWII

My pretty tea at a tea house near Warwick Castle

 Warwick Castle

Witnessed a real trebuchet fire! Amazing...

A view of a Warwick Castle tower from another tower :P

Of course we also visited Marion's University. The University was really nice. Manufacturing Equipment in the management group was to drool for. The Art's center was also awesome. I think Philippine universities are leagues away

Taking on Singapore in Another Half a Day :)

September 29, 2012
Singapore, Singapore

En route to the UK, we had an overnight layover in Singapore. In effect we had half a day to explore this wondrous city of Singapore similar to our lay-over en route to Cambodia back in 2010.

Since we've all seen the Merlion, we wanted to do something different this time around. Thus the adventure begins:

Checking in to our big room for our short stay :)

Figuring out our way around Singapore

 Getting on our way....

For lunch at Lau Pa Sat :)

Then off to the magnificent Marina Bay Sands
Check out the Chinese String Quartet at the background

Enjoying the view from up top!
Even higher than the Singapore Flyer

 The Gardens: Aerial View

Having some laughs at the Gardens. With the Marina Sands at background

At the Gardens with Papa

Back to Airport for dinner and rest :)
(Then off to UK first thing in the morning)
